As of now, people with HIV are in the priority group for vaccination against covid-19 in Brazil.
The Ministry of Health included in the list people living with the disease in the age group between 18 and 59 years. The measure was published last Tuesday, 30.
According to the technical note, HIV is now considered a comorbidity for Covid-19.
“Based on this initiative, it will be possible to reduce the impact of the pandemic in this group, especially in relation to the risk of hospitalization and death, and to respect the concept of equity in the SUS (Unified Health System)”, says the Ministry of Health.
The note also says that the decision was made considering “new published scientific evidence on the risk of negative outcomes for covid-19 in people living with HIV”.
Before, the program considered only people with HIV who still had a T-CD4 + lymphocyte count as a priority.
With the change, everyone who fits the profile will be able to get vaccinated the third phase of the National Immunization Plan (PNI).
In addition to age, the Ministry of Health reported that the person with HIV needs to prove the condition by presenting a medical report, tests, antiretroviral prescriptions and a medical prescription.
Since January, HIV has been a priority in the vaccination program for people with comorbidities, but there was a requirement for tests to count CD4 T lymphocytes below 350.
this Thursday, April 1st, the data of people with HIV will be included in the Connect-SUS.
